Our Mission
A second chance, just outside Zion
Located near the breathtaking Zion National Park, Project Barnyard Foundation rescues senior horses, donkeys, and mules from neglect, abuse, and the slaughter pipeline — and then does what almost no one else does. We keep them. Forever.
Every animal who arrives here stays here. We are a true sanctuary, not a rehoming program. That means individualized care, a safe place to land, and a commitment that lasts through recovery, old age, and to the very end of life — however long that may be.

Rescue
We save senior equines from neglect, abuse, and the slaughter pipeline — often in critical condition, with nowhere else to go.
Rehabilitate
Decrompression time, veterinary care, farrier work, dentals, specialized nutrition, and the time and trust it takes for an animal to recover.
Retire
Every animal rescued is provided with lifelong sanctuary here with us; in a pasture with a herd of their own and being served by humans for the first time in their lives.

Hospice Care is Constant
Our rescues depend on round-the-clock care, 365 days a year — hay, grain, supplements, medications, emergency and routine vet visits, vaccinations, deworming, farrier services, and dental care.
Our monthly expenses average $15,000 every month to keep our herd healthy and thriving.
We accept donations through Zelle, DonorBox, Venmo, and PayPal.

We are located just outside Zion National Park in Southern Utah. Tours are by appointment only so we can give you and the animals our full attention.
